Who Am I?

owner of HP

My concept came to life through my passion for essential oils. History: 16th Century to the Present for natural products for natural beauty and health.

Let's continue studying the history of aromatic plants to understand how essential oils became so popular today.

References to the use of essential oil therapy date back to the Middle Ages. In 1519, a German scientist named Bench published a medical book containing 25 references to essential oils. Medical texts from the 17th Century list 60 essential oils commonly used in perfumes and medicines. In 1881, Robert Koch, a scientist and Nobel Prize recipient in 1905, demonstrated the bactericidal action of turpentine essential oil from Pinus pinaster on anthrax spores. So we're seeing that essential oils have been used throughout ancient and modern history, and maybe you've only recently started to hear about them.

Natural products disappeared in many developed countries with the rise of allopathic medicine and pharmaceuticals. However, the mid-20th Century saw a renewed interest in the clinical and therapeutic use of plant essential oils in some countries, including France and Australia.

Aromatherapy originated when a laboratory explosion severely burned French perfumer Maurice Gattefosse. His success using lavender to treat his severely burned arm led to a lifetime interest in using plant essential oils for medicinal treatments.

Gattefosse published a scientific paper in 1928 detailing his research on the dermatological applications of essential oils and coined the term "aromatherapy".

Many French physicians carried on the critical work begun by Gattefosse.

One such physician was Dr Jean Valnet, a former army surgeon who used essential oils to treat severe burns and battle injuries. Later, Valnet successfully treated psychiatric patients with essential oils. Eventually, he published the results of his work in his 1980 book, Practice of Aromatherapy. Margaret Maury, an Austrian nurse and surgical assistant, brought interest in therapeutic topical applications of essential oils to England in the mid-1900s, where they are commonly integrated into nursing practice.

Many reputable aromatherapists have contributed to the safe use of essential oils for health and well-being.

Well, it's wonderful that more and more people are being introduced to essential oils to use natural products for health and well-being. We all need to use essential oils sensibly, paying attention to safety and plant sustainability.

As seeds and plants play a role in human life, the published information and research on essential oils grows. Now, let's hear from those who have found benefits from using essential oils and explore any potential issues that may arise.

Born in Singapore, living and based in Oslo, Norway, I have been using essential oils and carrier oils since childhood; as a personal user of oils from top to toe, I grew up with essential and carrier oils for beauty and health regimes, and my interest evolved into hours of research, studied Aromatherapy: Clinical Use of Essential Oils. (University of Minnesota)

Finally, I established Heavenly Pure, based in Oslo, to share the knowledge and pure products with others.
