Botanical Name: Tagetes Glandulifera is the botanical name of Yellow Marigold Oil known as ‘True Marigold’. Tagetes Glandulifera is an annual herbaceous flowering plant in the Asteraceae family. Yellow marigolds are cheerful flowers. They can sometimes appear as deep yellow or gold. But they have almost the same meaning. They symbolize positivity, optimism, and good luck.

Aromatic Description: Marigold Tagetes glandulifera Essential Oil is derived from the Tagetes glandulifera plant, also known as glandular marigold. Its aroma is strong, pungent, and slightly sweet, with green, herbaceous, and peppery notes, making it distinctively sharp and earthy.

Traditionally associated with spiritual rites like Día de los Muertos, Tagetes oil symbolizes protection, transition, spiritual rebirth, and the guiding of souls. It encourages personal clarity, transformation, and the release of old patterns, making it a powerful tool during change. Energetically, Marigold Tagetes resonates most with the Solar Plexus and Third Eye chakras. It supports confidence, decision-making, and inner vision while occasionally assisting the Root Chakra in grounding and cleansing.

Its chemical makeup includes target one, limonene, ocimene, and dihydroxyacetone, which contribute to its antimicrobial, antifungal, and insect-repelling properties. Therapeutically, it is prized for its ability to combat infections, clear respiratory congestion, soothe spasms, and reduce inflammation when properly diluted. Tagetes glandulifera essential oil is known for its antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and sedative benefits. It helps treat fungal infections, alleviate muscle cramps, and promote wound healing. Additionally, it can be used as a natural insect repellent, particularly effective against mosquitoes. When used in moderation, aromatherapy helps calm the mind and reduce stress or anxiety. The oil also supports skin health by addressing minor skin issues like acne or cuts and can be used in massage oils to reduce inflammation and soothe sore muscles.

In terms of blending, it pairs well with essential oils such as lavender, bergamot, lemon, peppermint, geranium, tea tree, eucalyptus, and frankincense. These oils soften the sharpness of Tagetes glandulifera while enhancing its therapeutic effects. When using this oil, it's important to dilute it before applying it to the skin, as it can cause irritation or sensitivity, especially when exposed to sunlight. As with all essential oils, it's advised to conduct a patch test and avoid its use during pregnancy or with young children. The oil's extraction yield is typically moderate to low, depending on the plant material and distillation process.

Extraction Method: Steam Distillation, extracted from the plant’s leaves, stems and flowers.
